I, myself, had been very confused of how death worked ICly (and how Sib could be smacked in the face 100000 times by a dragonhawk and never die) and this thread was so well done and informative I just had to link it. Now that I've read it I feel like I've always done it all wrong. It makes so much sense that I am confused. Read this, seriously.

That's a wonderful thread, Sib. I completely agree too. Just because a character dies due to game mechanics doesn't mean that the character necessarily died in roleplay.
If that were the truth, then Death is too cheap, and roleplay has no meaning since in the reality of that fictional world, there is no danger to be had, and therefore no adventure or value.
