The Sinwalker bloodline was once a noble family of the ancient Night Elven capitol, Zin-azshari, and one of the Highborne families tasked to discover a more promising way to take control of the Well of Eternity’s power. The Light of lights, as her beloved followers addressed her, Queen Azshara was the savior to her people, but her alterior motive was to cleanse the world and make it perfect in her eyes by harnessing the well's powers and removing the imperfections. The Sinwalkers setup their research operations in Eldre’Thalas, and began delving into the mysterious magics of the well. Mystical colors could be seen illuminating the sky from the city, marking the great progression of the Sinwalkers' research. The other families found this progress to be -too- great and feared that the Sinwalkers would take the glory in the race to please their beloved ruler. Through their combined efforts, the other families plotted and framed the Sinwalkers of trying to take the well’s power for their own and use it against Azshara.
Because of their respected status in the palace, the Sinwalkers were able to prove their innocence, but as a precaution, Lord Xavius ordered the family to cease all operations and all their hard work and research were seized. Infuriated and humiliated, the Sinwalkers took up a vow of revenge and stole one of the Queen's prized relics from within her many vaults inside Eldre'Thalas. They began to conduct research on the item of power to discover how to use it against Azshara for revenge. Through months of underground research, and many live test subjects taken from the surrounding towns, they found a way to channel different schools of magic into the relic and create a great weapon that would produce massive, magical explosions wherever they willed. They also discovered how to siphon the magic sources into their bodies to increase their magical power 20 fold.
As final plans were being negotiated and last minute precautions being taken for the attack on Zin-Azshari, a single Sinwalker man stood up against the vengeful and bloodthirsty family. He reminded them of their family crest, the Phoenix, which can be tainted by corruption but is pure by default, and therefore they should fight off the corruption and restore their morals. This effected the family deeply, reminding them of the revered Phoenix and all of its honor and purity. They began to regret their search for revenge and therefore made an oath. The Sinwalker family would use their deadly weapon to redeem their family name and restore the honor they once held dear. They swore to destroy the Burning Legion and all threats to their world.
Through time, the relic and the information needed to power it were passed down the generations, all waiting until the day they could find a promising leader to present their cause to so that they could put their plan into motion and destroy the Legion once and for all. In the early stages of the Legion's second coming, the rising paladin and Crown Prince of Lordaeron, Arthas Menethil, intrigued the ever watchful eye of the Sinwalker family. In a time somewhere between Arthas' chase of Kel'thuzad from Brill to Andorhal, a small envoy of elves from the Sinwalker family confronted Arthas. The proposal of this item of power intrigued the young Prince immensely, but wished to discuss it further after he quelled the threat at hand. Sadly, the Prince fell to corruption and when the news of King Terenas' death reached Quel'thalas, the Sinwalkers decided to split their research and the relic in fear that the Prince would one day return for this doomsday device. In his campaign of terror, Arthas arrived at Quel'thalas, laying waste to the glorious city of Silvermoon and thus leading to the destruction of the sunwell. However, on this terrible day Arthas also sensed the power of the relic being kept within the walls of the besieged city. He himself and a band of his Scourge lackies stormed through the Sinwalker estate, killing each and every one of them, and seizing the relic for his own. In a desperate attempt to refuse the artifact's power to the fallen prince, Kaigashii, head of the Sinwalker family, produced a spell strong enough to shatter the artifact. The device was then boken, one whole half of the shattered remnants were nowhere to be found. The spell placed upon the artifact had done what it was designed to do. Hundreds of shards were spread far and wide across the world of Azeroth.
The Sinwalker line had been decimated, all save for one branch of the family tree. Kenjin Sinwalker, keeper of the Sinwalker secrets, resided in the mountains of Alterac safely with the information needed to activate and control the relic and a budding family.
Long before the family confronted Arthas for the first time, Kenjin was named to be the keeper of the Sinwalker secrets if the time came to split the familiy's precious knowledge. Determined to build up his own family, he courted and married Keishu of Dalaran, who birthed him his first son, Takaii Sinwalker. Always thinking ahead for the betterment of his family and his world, Kenjin felt the need to quicken his means to amass his own bloodline for the sake of keeping the information safe, so he met another woman by the name of Murasaki and had a child named Shadouri Sinwalker. For years he raised both families in secret, neither knowing of the other's existence. He split the information between the two sons, Shadouri's piece inside his mother's locket and Takaii's piece inscribed in the pendant he wore around his neck. It was soon after he split the information that the fatal blow to the Sinwalker line had occured. With the recent attacks and panic, Kenjin became flustered and caused suspicion to his wife Keishu. She began investigating and spying on her husband, eventually discovering her husband's secret and so she sought out Murasaki. Both women exiled Kenjin out of their lives and began to enter states of depression. Murasaki killed herself in a gruesome, icy suicide, leaving Shadouri to grow up without a mother or family. Keishu lost her will to live, leaving Takaii with the awful task of living with what might as well have been a decaying old woman, who eventually died in her sleep of literal heartbreak, tears staining her cheeks. Shadouri attempted to kill his father out of vengeance for what he had done, but did not succeed. Takaii however became completely sadistic and vengeful as per the tendencies of the Sinwalker family. In a gruesome struggle, Takaii bound his father to a tree and set him aflame, watching him burn to ash.
The two boys never knew of eachother and grew up to become promising individuals. Takaii grew to be a promising young man, his yearning for knowledge and taste for adventure led him to take interest in the sea. There, he slowly learned of the divine magics of light and shadow. Shadouri was known as the Shade Artist, the title given to him by his mother and went on to master the ways of a warlock. The two brothers found eachother recently and realized their blood relation. The two became great friends and inquisitive to learn more of their past. Takaii had known somewhat of his family history and knew of a relic mentioned vaguely in his documents and journals he had found about his family. The two now search for the relic and any information pertaining to it. Their endeavors will lead them to discovering their family's deepest and most hidden secrets, and finally reveal to them the true intentions of their father's misconstrued actions.
