What's the perfect quote that describes either your character's personality or philosophy? Any quote will do...it could be from a song, a literary work or something of your own creation! I will have to think about Eve's and find a really good one, but in the meantime...here's a perfect one for my Alt, Rioux: "And I live with my justice, and I live with my greedy need. I live with no mercy, and I live with my frenzied feeding. I live with my hatred, and I live with my jealousy...I live with the notion that I don't need anyone but me. Don't drink the water...there's blood in the water..." - DMB; Don't Drink The Water

The Walrus and the Carpenter Were walking close at hand; They wept like anything to see Such quantities of sand: "If this were only cleared away," They said, "it would be grand!"
"If seven maids with seven mops Swept it for half a year. Do you suppose," the Walrus said, "That they could get it clear?" "I doubt it," said the Carpenter, And shed a bitter tear.
"O Oysters, come and walk with us!" The Walrus did beseech. "A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk, Along the briny beach: We cannot do with more than four, To give a hand to each."
The eldest Oyster looked at him, But never a word he said: The eldest Oyster winked his eye, And shook his heavy head-- Meaning to say he did not choose To leave the oyster-bed.
But four young Oysters hurried up, All eager for the treat: Their coats were brushed, their faces washed, Their shoes were clean and neat-- And this was odd, because, you know, They hadn't any feet.
Four other Oysters followed them, And yet another four; And thick and fast they came at last, And more, and more, and more-- All hopping through the frothy waves, And scrambling to the shore.
The Walrus and the Carpenter Walked on a mile or so, And then they rested on a rock Conveniently low: And all the little Oysters stood And waited in a row.
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings."
"But wait a bit," the Oysters cried, "Before we have our chat; For some of us are out of breath, And all of us are fat!" "No hurry!" said the Carpenter. They thanked him much for that.
"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said, "Is what we chiefly need: Pepper and vinegar besides Are very good indeed-- Now if you're ready, Oysters dear, We can begin to feed."
"But not on us!" the Oysters cried, Turning a little blue. "After such kindness, that would be A dismal thing to do!" "The night is fine," the Walrus said. "Do you admire the view?
"It was so kind of you to come! And you are very nice!" The Carpenter said nothing but "Cut us another slice: I wish you were not quite so deaf-- I've had to ask you twice!"
"It seems a shame," the Walrus said, "To play them such a trick, After we've brought them out so far, And made them trot so quick!" The Carpenter said nothing but "The butter's spread too thick!"
"I weep for you," the Walrus said: "I deeply sympathize." With sobs and tears he sorted out Those of the largest size, Holding his pocket-handkerchief Before his streaming eyes.
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter, "You've had a pleasant run! Shall we be trotting home again?' But answer came there none-- And this was scarcely odd, because They'd eaten every one.
------------------------------- By Lewis Carroll, if you hadn't previously figured that out.
I just think it sounds like what Sib would say if she was a Walrus/Carpenter. Just randomly wanting the sand to clear, and how sealing wax is so important sounds very Sibbish. xD

Takaii does not believe that some sort of divine power controls the fates of man. He believes that life is what you make of it, and the biggest fault of the world is that too few stand up for what they truely believe. This befits his views perfectly.
"Men at some time are masters of their fates: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings."
-Cassius, Julius Caesar - Shakespeare

"All men betray moods and affectations, conceits and idiosyncrasies, which could become the source of great annoyance to us if we took them too seriously. It is better to laugh at them." - Reinhold Niehbur, Home and Faith
This is both mine and Toumar's view of life. Obviously, we both fail to accomplish this sometimes, but the key message is that no matter what happens, and no matter how others treat you, life will be a whole lot less stressful if you only worry about the things that matter. If a random stranger comes up to you and insults you, who cares? You don't know them. Save your ire for people who earn it, and don't take insults to heart unless they come from people whose opinions you value.

What part of "I don't give up" don't you understand?

For Sunsinger, I can think of nothing better than an old friend's poem, which she entitled Night Moon Walking. That woman has a way with words I never will, and though I doubt she'd ever be happy to see me again she still commands perhaps the most respect of a writer and a person I've ever given anyone. Though she attributed this poem to her own character, it fits Sun perfectly. You know...
I always wanted a way to let my fate know it hasn't killed me yet.
Mine has a habit of kicking me in the ass, but eh - it's not so bad.
Afterall, I don't intend on giving up. I've got my purpose. It hurts sometimes, but most things do, don't they?
Besides, I found my defiance.
Nothing says '**** you' quite like smirking at the sky, after all. All those stars, and not a single one has a comeback.
Come on, baby. Tell me how I'm broken.
Just letting you know it ain't over yet.

I think the song "Be Yourself" by Audioslave describe's Sinfael's philosophy fairly well, that "to be yourself is all that you can do." The times when she does not heed it are dark, and in the end, she has to chant that mantra to remind herself that she did what she could, and could do no more.: Someone falls to pieces Sleepin all alone Someone kills the pain Spinning in the silence To finally drift away Someone gets excited In a chapel yard Catches a bouquet Another lays a dozen White roses on a grave To be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do Someone finds salvation in everyone And another only pain Someone tries to hide himself Down inside himself he prays Someone swears his true love Untill the end of time Another runs away Separate or united? Healthy or insane? To be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do And even when you've paid enough, been pulled apart or been held up With every single memory of the good or bad faces of luck don't lose any sleep tonight I'm sure everything will end up alright You may win or lose But to be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do
